What is a koyo spherical roller bearing?
Spherical roller bearings feature a large load rating and self-aligning capability. This type of bearing is suitable for low- or medium speed applications which involve heavy or impact loading. Spherical roller bearings are self-aligning, double-row, combination radial and thrust bearings. They use a spherical or crowned roller as the rolling element. The outer ring contains a spherical race which allows for some misalignment of the shaft and housing. Spherical roller bearings are unequalled in their capacity for high loads and tolerance to shock loads, but have limited speed capabilities. They perform consistently, even under conditions of extreme speed, application-specific stress, and marginal lubrication. The cage of a spherical roller bearing provides high dimensional accuracy and functionality. According to some estimates, spherical roller bearings have twice the running life of conventional bearings.
What is a koyo thrust ball bearing?
Thrust ball bearings are divided into single and double direction types. The former is able to accommodate axial load in one direction, while the latter is able to accommodate it in both directions. Neither is suitable for applications that involve radial load or high-speed rotation. This type of bearing is commonly used in automotive, aerospace and marine applications
Outline of KOYO bearing selection
Currently, as bearing design has become diversified, their application range is being increasingly extended. In order to select the most suitable bearings for an application, it is necessary to onduct a comprehensive study on both bearings and the equipment in which the bearings will be installed, including operating conditions, the performance required of the bearings, specifications of the other components to be installed along with the bearings, marketability, and cost performance, etc.
In selecting bearings, since the shaft diameter is usually determined beforehand, the prospective bearing type is chosen based upon installation space, intended arrangement, and according to the bore diameter required.
Next, from the bearing specifications are determined the service life required when compared to that of the equipment in which it is used, along with a calculation of the actual service life from operational loads.
Internal specifications including bearing accuracy, internal clearance, cage, and lubricant are also selected, depending on the application.
Where are koyo bearings being produced?
JTEKT Corporation has 61 plants in total (steering products, driveline components, bearings and machine tools) located all over the world. For our Koyo bearings we have the following number of plants.
Japan: 5 plants
Asia & Oceania: 8 plants
Europe: 7 plants
North & South America: 1 plant
What is a koyo ball bearing unit?
Ball bearing units consists of pre-lubricated sealed ball bearings and a housing which varies in shape. They are capable of aligning themselves efficiently using the spherical fitting surface between the bearing and housing, effectively preventing overloads due to misalignment
What is a koyotapered roller bearing?
A tapered roller bearing is a bearing in which tapered rollers (truncated conical rollers) are inserted between the cup (outer ring) and cone (inner ring). The rollers are guided by the cone back face rib. They have high radial and axial (thrust) load capacities at low to intermediate speeds. Taper roller bearings are available in single-row, two-row and four-row designs. With single-row bearings, the thrust load capacity is about 60% of the radial capacity. Double-row bearings have a greater radial load capacity and can handle thrust loads from both directions. The rollers can be configured so that the contact lines to the races converge or diverge towards the axis of rotation. Diverging double-row bearings increase the rigidity of the shaft mounting, but converging bearings do not. Other configurations for double-row bearings feature a single outer ring and two inner rings, or two outer rings and a single inner ring. Four-row tapered roller bearings consist of four rows of alternating converging and diverging rollers.
At jtekt we manufacture a range of advanced bearing and products for the marine industry.
